I bought an Ipod Photo and when i realized that almost all of my mp3 files didnt have pictures or album cover/art i was quite upset. After searching the web for a good mp3 tag editor WITH ability to auto-download the cover art directly to the file, i found out that there's not a lot of good software that does this. Of Course you can use Musicmatch Jukebox or Windows Media Player to get pictures but they are not very good for tagging, auto-complete fields or batch renaming. I tried many programs but not one works as well as this one. I have more than 10 000 MP3 and i got them organized, renammed with correct tags and album cover very quickly using this software. It's great for my Ipod photo !!!

Download Cover Art

mp3Tag can extract or download different kind of information about MP3, APE, WMA, FLAC, M4a, AAC, and other types of audio files. Most of audio formats allow to store also lyrics and cover art inside files. mp3Tag fully supports these fields.

If you download tags from Amazon, album art is also downloaded and automatically saved inside every tagged file (if "Download album" option is checked on the "Tags from Amazon" tab). Optionally you can also let the program create a separate 'folder.jpg' file, as some players prefer to use it when showing cover art. Just check "Create a folder.jpg" on the "Tags from Amazon" tab.

To show cover art window, press "Ctrl" + "P" on your keyboard while mp3Tag is active, or check "Show pictures" in the main menu.

Cover art

You can freely resize the window.

If you want to download only cover art without overwriting the rest of fields, mp3Tag offers the following option.

Select the files that you want to supply with album art. Files can be from different albums and from multiple folders. The only requirement is the correct information in "Artist" and "Album" fields.

Click this button in the cover art window: Confirm that you want to download and save cover art for all the files. mp3Tag starts searching and saving.

Sometimes, when the album's name is too long, or some letters are mistyped, cover art cannot be found. In this case, you can simply shorten the album's name, like described in another section.

The trial version of mp3Tag adds a small logo to all downloaded pictures. The full version doesn't add any logos.

Save Cover Art

If you download cover art for one or several files, it is saved automatically inside each file from the list. More than one picture can be saved in an audio file, so if you click several times, the same picture may be downloaded and saved several times. If the file contains more than one picture, "Next" button will be active in the cover art window (normally it is grayed out): . Number of pictures is also shown in the title of the album art window (on the above screen shot, the window says that it is picture 1 of 1).

To save the downloaded picture as a separate file, click in the cover art window.

To delete the current picture, click

It is possible to insert a picture from file (click ), from the clipboard, or using Drag&Drop.
