One of the main reasons I bought Visual MP3 Splitter was the Silent detection tool. It worked very well and was a great time saver when splitting several mp3 files containing whole CD's.
I must also mention that the team at ManiacTools was very helpful when I got in to some trouble with a file that had a garbled header. I don't how they did it but now I split that file too...

Options Menu

Visual MP3 Splitter & Joiner has intuitive interface that allows you not to bother yourself with settings. There are only a few options to mention.

You can call options from menu "File".

'Draw block borders' - when checked, marks borders of each added part on the waveform with dotted lines.

'Show block numbers' - when checked, shows parts' numbers on the waveform. Red number means beginning of the part, and the blue one means end of the part. The numbers are outside of the boundaries.

'Zoom step' defines size of one step by zooming in/zooming out.

'Save ID3v2 tag' - when checked, the program saves meta information both in ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags.

'Show message after processing file(s)' - when checked, confirms successful splitting/joining with a message.

'Split WMA as WAV files and convert them back to WMA automatically' - when checked, converts output files back to WMA with help of AudioConverter Studio.

'Show message window when opening WMA files' - when checked, shows a message every time when a WMA file is opened.
