mp3Tag is great, by the way. I am a bit of an addict when it comes to music. I download a lot of music files from blogs and many of them are poorly tagged and named. mp3Tag makes the process of making them more useful so very easy. I have hundreds of files from a time before I purchased mp3Tag and am now going through those files to fix them. I simply could not do this without mp3Tag.

Import ID3 Tags from a Text File

mp3Tag has many tools for MP3 tags importing: from parts of filenames, retrieving tags from Audio CD database FreeDB and Amazon.com servers. Now you can import tags from text file! This task is very popular.

You can use the following fields on format string:

Filename (%O).
# of track (%#, %0).
Song title ( %T, %1).
Artist (%A, %2).
Album name ( %L, %3).
Year (%Y, %4).
Genre (%G).
Comment (%C, %6).
Composer (%M).
BPM (%B).

Please use \t for tab character.

For example, if you have untagged files and text file like this:

song1.mp3;Toxic;Britney Spears
song2.mp3;Feel Good Time;Pink

You can generate tags using text data from this file.

Select all required files.
Press button "Generate tags".
In new window open tab "Tags from textfile".
Choose textfile with data.
Enter a format string: %O;%T;%A
Preview result.
If the information is correct, press "Generate tags" button.

Now you can rename MP3 files by tags.
