I bought an Ipod Photo and when i realized that almost all of my mp3 files didnt have pictures or album cover/art i was quite upset. After searching the web for a good mp3 tag editor WITH ability to auto-download the cover art directly to the file, i found out that there's not a lot of good software that does this. Of Course you can use Musicmatch Jukebox or Windows Media Player to get pictures but they are not very good for tagging, auto-complete fields or batch renaming. I tried many programs but not one works as well as this one. I have more than 10 000 MP3 and i got them organized, renammed with correct tags and album cover very quickly using this software. It's great for my Ipod photo !!!

Delete MP3 Tags

If you want to remove unused ID3 tags, let mp3Tag do its job. Select the files in mp3Tag, right click them and choose what version of the tag to remove:

Delete tags

This method can also be used if you want to get rid of some garbage in tags. For example, ID3v2 tag can contain unlimited number of fields, and some programs use the fields to save different kinds of weird things that won't be recognized by any other program. If you want to remove such things, export usual tags to a text file, use the above described method to delete tags, then import tags from the text file. Alternatively, you can rename your files so that filenames and folder names contain all important information, delete the tags, and then extract necessary fields from filenames again.

Of course, you can also tag your files anew by downloading tags from Amazon or FreeDB.
