I bought an Ipod Photo and when i realized that almost all of my mp3 files didnt have pictures or album cover/art i was quite upset. After searching the web for a good mp3 tag editor WITH ability to auto-download the cover art directly to the file, i found out that there's not a lot of good software that does this. Of Course you can use Musicmatch Jukebox or Windows Media Player to get pictures but they are not very good for tagging, auto-complete fields or batch renaming. I tried many programs but not one works as well as this one. I have more than 10 000 MP3 and i got them organized, renammed with correct tags and album cover very quickly using this software. It's great for my Ipod photo !!!

Advanced Renaming

You have already learnt how to rename files by their tags' information. mp3Tag also helps you to work with folders.

Assume that you have thousands of .MP3, .WMA, .OGG, and .APE files with correct tags and want to sort all your music files by artist and album name. Please, select all folders where your music files are stored and click on Subfolders-button. Then click "Rename files"-button. In "Rename"-window you will see music files in the selected folders and their tags.

Beside renaming files by their tags' information, you can also create folders by format. Just use "\" character to separate folder name and file name.

Attention: you can create further subfolders if using "\" several times.

For example, if values of the song title, artist and album name are not empty then set "%A\%L\%T" format. This will create folder with "Artist"-field and subfolder with "Album"-field in the root folder and file with name "Title"-field will be moved to this path.

Configure the capitalization and letters replacement options before renaming files and press "Rename files"-button.

That's all ;)

If you want to move all files from subfolders to root folder simply type in "\" before format for files renaming like this: "\%A – %T".
