How to import a movie collection from Ant Movie Catalog

Movienizer helps you manage your collection of movies on DVDs, VHS, and other media. You can add movies either one by one, or in a bunch. However, if you have already used another movie database program, you may want to transfer your existing collection without entering all those titles once again.

To import your movie collection into Movienizer, you should export it first in the source program.

Start Ant Movie Catalog. Load your collection. On the toolbar, click the highlighted button (see the screen shot below), or press 'Ctrl' + 'E' on your keyboard.

Open your movie catalog and click Export

The "Export" tool will be started. In the leftmost list, click "CSV Text / Excel". Move the fields that you want to export from the "Available fields" list to "Fields to export". You can move all entries at once with the corresponding buttons.

Set export options, click Export

On the right, select the semicolon ';' as the delimiter, check "Add column titles" box. Click "Export" when done.

The program will pop up a usual "Save as" dialog, prompting you to browse to a folder and enter some name for your file. Save the file in some known location, so that you can easily find it later, when importing.

Now, close Ant Movie Catalog and launch Movienizer. Click "Tools" - "Import from text file".

In the "Import" window, open the file that you have exported with Ant Movie Catalog.

Open the exported file, adjust values and import your collection

Set "Semicolon" as the delimiter, check "First row contains field names" box. Click "Preview".

Movienizer reads the file and recognizes fields. If some fields aren't recognized, <Do not import> value is shown. Select appropriate values from the dropdown lists.

Below, in the preview area, see the results. If everything is OK, click "Import". Movienizer starts adding movies and persons to the current database. It may take some time, depending on how many movies you have exported from Ant Movie Catalog. A progress bar is shown during the process.

Finally, close the window and enjoy managing your collection in Movienizer.
